The length of the studies for a bachelor’s degree – 4.5 years, for a master’s degree – 1.5 years.

The classroom activities of extramural students during the exam sessions are planned taking into account their total length for each academic year, which is defined by the lengths of the paid annual leaves under current legislation for the first and second years of studies ‑ 30 calendar days, for the third and further years – 40 calendar days.

An examination session for extramural students is a part of an academic year during which the classroom activities (lectures, practical classes, seminars) and monitoring activities are held. During the intersessional period, students study both independently and under the guidance of the teachers. The main forms of the students’ work assessment are tests, course papers, student theses, research projects, etc.

The educational process is carried out in accordance with the approved curricula and academic programmes developed on their basis.

Examinations are held as provided by the exam schedule within the exam session period. Students who have not passed their exams within the exam session period are considered to have incompletes.

Dismissal of students from the university is carried out under current legislation. The reasons for dismissal are: incompletes (three or more academic disciplines), non-compliance with contract terms (non-payment of the tuition fee), and disciplinary grounds.

Dismissed students are readmitted on a contractual basis after removing the incompletes by the conclusion of a new contract. Students dismissed during their first-year of studies cannot be readmitted. They may only be enrolled to the university from September, 1 the next academic year in accordance with the NAU Admission Rules.

Transfer of students from one speciality to another within the same subject area is done two times within an academic year (on February, 1 and September, 1 of the current year) only after they have completed their first year of studies.

The amount, structure and quality of the knowledge and skills of a student who has completed his/her academic plan comply with the requirements of the National Educational Standard. An extramural student who has completed his/her academic plan and passed the State certification is qualified in the relevant academic degree by the Examination Board and receives a standardized Ukrainian diploma of higher education.

Admission for extramural studies is performed every year according to the approved NAU Admission Rules.
